Tyler update!

I just got home from a Neurologist (seizure doctor) appointment with Tyler. It was to check his phenobarbital (seizure medication) levels. However I got a lot more than I expected! Tyler has had 4 seizures this week , so I expressed my concerns with the Doc . I told him how I have thought that light affects him. So in the exam room he turned the lights on and off , to see what would happen. Tyler blinked his eyes over and over again and had a seizure. So the doc had a nurse hook him up to the E.E.G. machine , to monitor his seizures. They put a bright light on him that flickered and of course he had several seizures. So after giving the results to the doc. he decided to up the dose of his second seizure medication ( keppra ) , and see how he does over the next month. The goal is to be seizure free. So if he has none then we can start weening him off the phenobarbital and just have him on the keppra! However if he still has them , then we will up the keppra again. We also found out that he has turrets syndrome ( sometimes he doesn't have control over his arms, hands, legs etc. ) or something similar to it. Which we already guessed ( well Uncle Cole did)! It is one of those things that go right along with Autism. We are also are seriously considering getting a special needs dog for Tyler.

I'm not sure if that's good news or bad news, but at least it's news. I hope the new meds work well and that precious little guy gets some relief from those siezures. Good luck to you all and we'll keep you in our prayers:-))
